So much learning is taking place with this space name craft! In this little craftivity, kids are . . .

  • developing name recognition
  • progressing their letter formation abilities
  • building hand-eye coordination
  • developing the dexterity of their hands (an important component of handwriting!)

This project can easily be adapted for toddler children. If you are doing these space shuttle names with especially young kids, I recommend writing the letters of their name for them and cutting out the components of the shuttle. Then your child can focus on the task of arranging the letters of their name and gluing everything in place.

This is how we made this out-of-this-world space name craft.

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Print off a copy of the Space Shuttle Name Recognition printable.
  2. Use a marker or crayon to write the letters of your name in the red squares.
  3. Give your child a pair or scissors to cut out the different parts of the space shuttle. If your child is particularly young, you may need to this step of the project for them.
  4. Have your child arrange the parts of the shuttle to spell out their name.
  5. Use the glue to adhere the parts of your space name craft in place on the background paper.
