Celebrate the sunshine with these simple tissue paper suncatchers!

If you having been needing a craft to bring some cheer to your space – you’ve found it! Tissue Paper Suncatchers will bring a splash of color to any room.

With just a few simple supplies like paper plates, tissue paper, markers, and contact paper, you and your kids can make this project together.

Here’s how we made these tissue paper suncatchers.

Supplies:

  • Paper plate
  • Tissue paper in assorted colors, cut into squares and rectangles
  • Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
  • Contact paper
  • Scissors
  • Permanent marker
  • Hole punch and string (optional)

Directions:

  1. Use scissors to carefully remove the center of your paper plate by cutting a circle from the inside.
  2. Decorate your paper plate by using markers, crayons, or colored pencils. Whether it’s simple shapes, intricate patterns, or whimsical doodles, express yourself!
  3. Use permanent marker to trace your paper plate onto your piece of contact paper. Then use scissors to cut out the contact paper circle.
  4. Peel away the backing of your contact paper and attach it to your paper plate. Trim any excess contact paper from the edges of the plate.
  5. Stick tissue paper onto the contact paper. Experiment with layering colored squares – sometimes this can create an affect of color mixing when held up to the sunlight!
  6. If desired, punch a hole into your paper plate. Thread a ribbon through this hole and hang in front of your window.
