Taste-Safe Paint for Kids

This paint recipe for kids is taste-safe and uses 4 ingredients you probably already have in your pantry!

If I learned anything in the elementary classroom, it is that kids will put EVERYTHING in their mouths. Glue bottles. Markers. Rulers. Erasers.

This paint recipe for kids is taste-safe and uses 4 ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen pantry.

Supplies:

  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups warm water
  • Food coloring
  • Paintbrushes
  • Muffin tin or small containers

Directions:

  1. Dissolve salt in warm water.
  2. Add flour and mix until smooth.
  3. Fill your muffin tin wells with the mixture.
  4. Add 2-4 drops of food coloring to each muffin tin well and stir until well combined.
  5. Paint away!

I adore how flexible this paint recipe is. If your child is having difficulty moving around the paint, add a tad more water to the mixture. If you are wanting to have brighter colors, add more food coloring. If you are going for more of a pastel look, add less food coloring.

Due to the materials used to create this paint, it will not keep for more than 24 hours. Adjust the recipe to make what you need. The paint recipe I have provided you makes enough paint to fill 12 muffin cups.
