Paper Plate Tambourines

Celebrate just about anything with this paper plate tambourine craft for kids!

This homemade tambourine is a classic kids’ craft. And for good reason!

Celebrate the New Year, another favorite holiday, or birthdays with this easy activity for kids. It uses simple supplies that you can find at your local grocery store.

Here’s how you do it.

Supplies:

  • Two paper plates
  • Stickers, markers, stamps, or paint
  • Hole punch
  • Dried pasta or beans
  • Stapler
  • Ribbon

Directions:

  1. Decorate your plates with stickers, markers, stamps, or paint.
  2. Use the hole punch to punch several holes along the edge of your plates.
  3. With the curves of the plates facing outwards, staple the two plates together. Leave a length of 4 inches or so unstapled. This is where you will be filling your tambourine.
  4. Fill your tambourine with a small handful of dried pasta or beans.
  5. Staple shut to seal in the noisemakers.
  6. Thread ribbon through the punched holes to complete your tambourine.
