It’s the perfect low-prep art activity to celebrate the arrival of spring. Besides making a lovely seasonal decoration, kids will explore repetition, shape, texture, and pattern with these mushroom prints.

Here’s how we made these paper roll mushroom prints.

Supplies:

  • Recycled cardboard roll
  • Paper plate or plastic lid
  • Tempera paint in 2-3 colors
  • Heavy drawing paper or cardstock
  • Paintbrush
  • Placemat

Directions:

  1. Use your fingers to bend a paper roll into a mushroom shape.
  2. Squeeze washable paint onto a plate or a plastic lid.
  3. Dip your paper roll in the paint and then stamp it onto the paper.
  4. Print a variety of mushrooms onto your paper.
  5. Use a paintbrush to add texture and details to your printed mushrooms.
