Homemade Play Dough that Smells Like Christmas!

Here is a recipe for homemade play dough that smells like Christmas! All thanks to immune-boosting Thieves essential oil!

Making your own playdough with kids is eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and just plain fun! This recipe for homemade playdough with thieves essential oil is especially magical.

Although you can use any essential oil of your choice in this recipe (or none at all if you prefer your dough unscented), Thieves smells like the holidays poured into a bottle.

Thieves essential oil blend is a powerful, immune-boosting combination of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary oils. It actually is a blend inspired by a group of 14th century European thieves who would rub these oils on themselves to protect themselves from the Black Plague before robbing the homes of sick and dying.

Here’s how we made this magical homemade play dough.

Supplies:

• 1 cup flour
• 1/3 cup salt
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 1 cup water
• 1 tablespoon oil
• 1-2 drops of Thieves essential oil (or an oil of your choice)
• Food coloring

Directions:

1. In a saucepan, combine flour, cream of tartar, and salt.
2. Add the oil, water, a few drops of food coloring, and a drop or two of Thieves.
3. Over medium-high heat, stir your mixture together to form a dough. Keep stirring to remove lumps and to get the mixture to a dough consistency.
4. Remove from heat. Knead dough to remove any additional lumps.
5. Play! When you are done playing, store in an air-tight container for up to a month.
