This easy nature craft for kids uses glue to preserve summer flowers!
Love the look of resin-preserved flowers, but want to do a simpler version with your kids? You know – one with minimal materials and minimal time?
Then try out this flower preservation technique that uses hot glue!
This nature craft for kids is a quick and lovely way to preserve the small flowers and leaves that catch your eye when you are out on a walk or working in the garden. It’s a sweet way to wrap up a summer day that was spent outdoors.
Here’s how we preserved flowers using glue.
Supplies:
- Botanical elements, freshly gathered
- Wax paper
- Hot glue
- Scissors
Directions:
- Gather a variety of botanical elements to preserve. This craft works best when your nature findings are freshly gathered and on the small side.
- Lay out your flowers and leaves on the sheet of wax paper. There should be at least 2 inches of space between each item.
- Cover the botanical finding with hot glue. Be generous in your application! You will want to make sure the entire item is covered in glue – no petals peeking out!
- Leave as is, or cover the newly glued object with wax paper.
- When the glue has entirely dried, use a scissors to cut out your preserved flower from the wax paper.
