Chicken Collages-Using Newspaper!

Chicken Collage _ Completed Project Being Held _ Abbie Ulstad _ GGH

These sweet chicken collages for kids are a beautiful way to recycle old newspaper!

This chicken collage craft is a fun and educational activity for kids that not only allows them to tap into their creativity, but also introduces the anatomy of a chicken.

By using recycled newspaper and construction paper, children can learn the importance of recycling and repurposing materials. Additionally, the use of different textures and colors in the collage can enhance their sensory development.

Here’s how we made this simple chicken collage craft.

Supplies:

  • Newspaper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Construction paper in a variety of colors
  • Sheet of paper to use for a background

Directions:

  1. Use scissors to cut out a peanut shape from your sheet of newspaper. You want this shape to be about the size of your hand. This will be the body of your chicken.
  2. Use scissors to cut out details for your chicken from construction paper. Details include legs, feet, feathers, beak, comb, wattle, and eyes. This is a great time to research the anatomy of a chicken for your chicken collage.
  3. Use glue to adhere the parts of your collage onto your base paper. Work on gluing from the bottom of your chicken to the top of your chicken.
