This easy craft for kids is the perfect activity to celebrate Earth Day!
Coffee filter crafts are always a hit.
Maybe it’s because you are using a common household item to create art.
Maybe it’s because kids are exploring color mixing.
Maybe it’s the way the marker softens and spreads with a couple spritzes of water.
Maybe it doesn’t matter why these crafts are so magical. They just are!
Here’s how we made these coffee filter Earths.
Supplies:
- Coffee filter
- Washable markers
- Spray bottle with water
- Cookie tray or cake pan (optional)
Directions:
- Lay your coffee filter flat.
- Use washable marker to draw continents and water onto the Earth. Depending on the age/ability of your child, you may want to reference a globe during this step.
- Set your decorated coffee filter in a cookie sheet or a cake pan (this is optional but it helps contain any mess). Spray the coffee filters with water until the marker begins to spread.
- Allow the coffee filter to dry entirely before displaying!
