Birch Tree Paintings for Kids

Birch Tree Paintings _ Preschooler Painting _ Abbie Ulstad _ GGH

These birch tree watercolor paintings are a lovely winter art project for kids.

These birch tree watercolor paintings are simple but oh-so-stunning. This is the type of art project that makes every child feel like a world-class artist.

When I was an art teacher, it was one of my favorite painting projects to teach to my students during the cold winter months. They were bright and cheery, yet still were seasonal.

However, these birch tree paintings can be created any time of year!

Here’s how we created these birch tree watercolor paintings.

Supplies:

  • Watercolor paper
  • Black crayon
  • Watercolor paint
  • Water
  • Paintbrush
  • Placemat (optional, but recommended)

Directions:

  1. With your paper going vertically, use a black crayon to draw 4-6 vertical lines. These lines will form tree trunks.
  2. Use your black crayon to draw multiple short horizontal lines to each trunk.
  3. Use watercolor paint to paint the space between the tree trunks.
