These botanical wax paper suncatchers are beautiful and cozy! They are the perfect decoration for your window.
Make a window suncatcher without contact paper? Yes you can!
With a few minimal supplies, you can preserve flowers from your favorite spring walk in a beautiful wax paper suncatcher.
Hang it up in your window and enjoy the light streaming through it all year long. It’s perfect for bringing a bit of the outdoors inside!
Here’s how we made these wax paper suncatchers.
Supplies:
- 2 rectangular sheets of wax paper
- Flowers, leaves, and other botanical elements
- Towel
- Clothing iron
- Scissors
- Tape for display (optional)
Directions:
- Arrange flowers and leaves into a design of your choice on one of the wax paper rectangles. It works best when you leave some space between the botanical elements.
- Gently set the other wax paper rectangle on top of your flower and leaf design.
- Set a towel on top of the wax papers. This towel will ensure that the wax paper does not melt onto your clothing iron in the next step.
- Carefully iron your creation – keeping the towel between the iron and your art. The hot iron will melt the wax papers together, preserving the flowers and leaves inside.
- Use scissors to cut your wax paper into a shape of your choice.
- Use tape (we used double stick) to adhere your wax paper suncatcher to a window. Enjoy!
