Explore the art element of texture in this castle drawing for kids!
This castle drawing project for kids builds the skills of observation, connecting children to the textures in their environment.
All you need for this texture castle drawing are colored crayons, paper, and texture. This can either be from texture rubbing cards or a textured environment.
Some examples of “textured environment” would be tiling in the bathroom, brick walls, or wooden paneling.
Whether you use texture rubbing cards, the textures found in your environment, or a mixture of both – this drawing project will connect kids to their environment and build awareness of texture.
Here’s how we made these texture castle drawings.
Supplies:
- Sheet of drawing paper
- Colored crayons
- Texture rubbing cards or textured areas in your environment
- Castle inspiration worksheet (download your free copy here)
Directions:
- Use a dark colored crayon to draw the outline of a castle. The texture castle inspiration worksheet is a great resource for this!
- Use crayons of different colors to add texture to your drawing. Texture is the way that something feels. To create a texture rubbing, place a textured surface under your castle drawing. Then rub your crayon against the paper over the texture.
- Fill your castle with a variety of texture rubbings.
