This loose parts play activity for kids encourages sharing with others, all while developing fine motor and math skills!
Sharing is hard, isn’t it?
Since we have recently transitioned to being a family of 4, it’s a life skill we are really working on over here at our house. Little play activities like this one help teach and practice the concept of sharing in a fun way.
In this loose parts play activity, kids are…
- developing independence as loose parts play is child-led
- developing gross and fine motor skills through the transportation and positioning of loose parts
- exploring the mathematical concepts of fractions and one-to-one correspondence
Here’s how we did it (plus your free printable!):
Supplies:
- Share the Pie printable game (download for free here)
- Scissors
- Cotton balls
- Fork or pie server
Directions:
- Print off a copy of the Share the Pie game.
- Use scissors to cut out the pie. Then cut along the black lines to form 8 pieces.
- Set pie alongside the cotton balls and a fork or pie server. I recommend setting the pie in a plate or pie tin for some extra pizzazz.
- Have your child place a cotton ball on the white circles and serve the slices of pie.
This activity is one of the ten activities included in my Sharing Activity Pack for Preschool and Kindergarten. You can purchase the activity pack here.
