This painting for kids is low-prep and oh-so-magical. A perfect way to celebrate spring, this art project also serves as an introduction to the watercolor technique of wax resist.
Supplies:
- A sheet of watercolor paper or thick drawing paper
- Crayon in a dark color of your choice (I recommend blue or black)
- A white crayon
- Paintbrush
- Water
- Watercolor paint
Directions:
- Use your dark-colored crayon to draw an egg shape onto the sheet of paper.
- Use the white crayon to write a message or draw a picture inside of the egg shape.
- Give your drawing to someone else for them to paint with the watercolors. The crayon wax will resist the watercolor paint, revealing the secret message or drawing.
This painting project would be a fun addition to a spring basket or to use in celebration of the Spring Equinox.
