Leaf Prints For Kids – Using Marker!

Take advantage of your children’s connection to the natural environment with these easy leaf prints. All you will need for this art project is leaves, markers, paper, and water.

Children are naturally curious and so connected to their environment.

Take advantage of this instinctive connection to nature with this easy art project for kids. It is as quick and non-messy as a printmaking project can come.

Here’s how we made these beautiful leaf prints.

Supplies:

  • Leaves (the softer and fresher, the easier they will be to print)
  • Washable markers
  • Heavy drawing paper
  • Spray bottle with water

Directions:

  1. Collect leaves to use for your prints. The softer and fresher the leaves are, the easy they will be to print.
  2. Use washable marker to gently color one side of your leaf.
  3. Lightly spritz your drawing paper with water.
  4. Press your leaf onto the paper, marker-side facing down.
  5. Carefully remove your leaf from the paper.
  6. Allow the paper time to dry completely.

If your print ends up being “runny” due to too much water on the paper, you can try pressing your leaf onto a fresh sheet of paper. You won’t need to apply any additional water or marker to achieve a print.
