This grass collage project for kids is a great tie-in for “In the Tall, Tall Grass” by Denise Fleming.
Have you read “In the Tall, Tall Grass” by Denise Fleming? Its a super cute read and this art project would be a great accompaniment to it!
This grass collage is also a fabulous stand-alone project.
No matter how you chose to do this craft, your little artists will learn about texture, overlapping, and build their connection to nature.
Kids will begin by using torn paper to collage stalks of grass onto a sheet of paper. Then they will draw what can be found in the grass.
Here’s how we made this darling grass collage craft.
Supplies:
- 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper
- Glue
- Construction paper in grassy colors
- Crayons or colored pencils
Directions:
- Fold your paper to create a flap.
- Turn your paper so the flap is at the top.
- Use your fingers to rip your construction paper into strips.
- Glue your torn paper onto the flap. As you create your grass collage, consider creating variety and overlapping your papers. This will create visual interest.
- Flip your paper over, so the blank side is facing you and the grass is on the edge of the paper nearest to you. Draw what you would see in the grass.
