Use Your Old Coffee Grounds to Make Art
Did you know that you can make your very own paint using old coffee grounds? Not only is it a great way to make use of something that otherwise ends up in the compost bin, but the paint has a gorgeous sepia quality.
This the perfect morning work activity to do with your kiddo (while you sip on your cup of joe, of course).
Supplies:
- Used coffee grounds
- Coffee
- Water
- Thick drawing paper
- Paintbrush (flat bristled works best)
- Mug or dish
Directions:
- Mix a couple tablespoons of coffee grounds with a 1/4 cup of coffee in your dish. For a lighter color, dilute the solution with water.
- Use a paintbrush to apply “coffee paint” to your paper.
I found that a flat bristled brush (like the one pictured) did the best job of transferring the paint onto the paper. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Let paint dry for 24 hours before brushing away the grounds.
You want your grounds to be fully dried so they don’t smudge onto other areas of your paper. Plus, the ground beans leave behind the most fabulous texture.
