An Easy Cardboard Craft Inspired by the Iconic Swedish Horse
Looking for a festive craft to make at home with the kids? This sweet little cardboard project is inspired by the iconic Swedish Dala Horse and uses supplies you probably already have on hand.
Supplies:
- Horse template
- Cardboard or poster board
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Markers
Directions:
- Print and cut out the horse template.
- Use a pencil to trace your horse onto your cardboard or poster board.
- Use markers to add design and color to your horse. The Swedish Dala horse is traditionally painted red and decorated with floral designs, but you can use whatever designs you would like.
- Cut your horse out of cardboard.
If you are teaching first or second grade, this art project could easily be integrated into an elementary social studies unit. It would be the perfect addition to a unit on European history, a craft to mark learning about St. Lucia’s Day, or an activity to celebrate Swedish Midsummer.
Full guide sheet and classroom poster for this project is available for purchase in my store here.
