A twist on the classic coffee filter butterfly craft, these beautiful bats are sure to be a hit with your kids!
Do you remember making coffee filter butterflies when you were a child?
This beautiful bat craft is a twist on this classic activity.
It would make a lovely addition to your Halloween celebration or to a unit study on bats. You could also use it as an extension to a study on color mixing.
Here’s how we did it.
Supplies:
- Coffee filter
- Washable markers
- Spray bottle filled with water
- Cookie sheet or cake pan (optional, but highly recommended)
- Scissors
- Clothes pin
Directions:
- Fold your coffee filter in half.
- Use washable marker to apply patterns and designs to your folder coffee filter.
- Set your decorated coffee filter in a cookie sheet or a cake pan (this is optional but it helps contain any mess). Spray the coffee filters with water until the marker begins to spread.
- Allow the coffee filters to dry entirely.
- Use a pair of scissors to create a scallop edge on the coffee filter.
- Pinch the center of your coffee filter and secure it in place with a clothes pin.
