Homemade Chalk Paint – My Favorite Recipe!

This is my favorite chalk paint recipe for kids – and it uses 3 ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. Enjoy!

I have tried ALOT of chalk paint recipes in my lifetime and this one is my absolute favorite.

One thing I adore about this chalk paint recipe in particular is how adjustable it is. Make it easier for young children to apply by thinning the mixture with more water. Make the colors more intense by adding more drops of food coloring. Create a pastel paint by adding fewer drops of food coloring. You get the picture.

This easy art recipe for kids uses three ingredients – and you probably already them them in your kitchen. Enjoy!

Supplies:

  • Small dishes or a muffin tin
  • Cornstarch
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Tablespoon
  • Paintbrushes (a brush with course bristles work best)

Directions:

  1. Fill each dish or muffin tin well with the following: 2 tablespoons of cornstarch + 2 tablespoons of water + 2-4 tablespoons of food coloring.
  2. Use your paintbrush to mix the three ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
  3. Use a paintbrush to apply chalk paint to a sidewalk or driveway.
